Question

Constants ▼ Part A A student bikes to school by traveling first dN = 1.10 miles north, then dw 0.600 miles west, and finally ds Take the north direction as the positive y direction and east as positive x. The origin is stll where the student starts biking. Let d w be the displacement vector corresponding to the first leg of the students trip. Express d y in component form. 0.200 miles south. Express your answer as two numbers separated by a comma (e.g., 1.0,2.0). By convention, the x component is written first. Submit

Answer #1

Solution)

Here,

the first leg

dNx = 0; dNy = + 1.10 mi ......................(0 , 1.10)

the second leg

dWx = - 0.6 mi; dWy = 0 ...................(-0.6 , 0)

the third leg

dSx = 0; dSy = - 0.2 mi ......................(0 , -0.2)

then the displacement vector is

dN = ( -0.6 , (1.10- 0.2) )

dN = ( -0.6 , 0.9) (Ans)
