the specific mortality rate is the number of deaths from a specified cause per 100,000 person-years at risk

Number of death from specified cause/ total population *100000

that is, 50/500,000*100,000=10

specific mortality rate= 10

TOTAL MORTALITY RATE

Total mortality rate is the total number of deaths to residents in a specified geographic area divided by the total population for the same geographic area per year and multiplied by 100,000.

thus, 250/500000*100000 = 50 resident deaths per 100,000 population
