Performance management
Inorder to complete the goals of the organisation, the continuous process of communication taking place between a supervisor and an employee,carried out all through the year, is defined as Performance management.
Elements
This is the basic step in performance management which is to be done by the manager and the employee.The managers should be the integral part of the system by planning upon the performance management. Target which are to be accomplished,should be set for the employee.
Setting clear goals and how to evaluate those goals within a specific period of time need to be cleared.
Annual reviews and mid year reviews can be done for a better evaluation.The employees should report the achievements done by them during these periods and the ratings should be given by the appraiser.They both should discuss about the achievements and ratings and set up methods to overcome the drawbacks.
The employee should be aware of their performance.Through feedback the employee will be able to detect the areas where improvement is needed and a clarity whether the employee is working according to the expectations of the appraiser will be gained.The feedback should be for the good of the employee and the organisation.
Reward should be given for the employee publicly for their performance which will motivate them and the others for a better performance.Recognising their work and appreciating really works in improving the performance much more than expected.
