1.Some of the data which has to be collected to determine the cause of the problem are

• Position of the patient's arms or the site of IV that has proper gravity to flow the fluid through veins
• Checking the tubing for any air bubbles which can block the IV flow
• Assessing the tube for no kinks or bending which can cease the flowing
• Make sure the roller clamp ,air vent is open

2.The licensed practical nurse has to assess the site for any infiltration, phlebitis,tender or pain,redness,swelling.The LPN can flush the line with normal saline after assessment under supervision of a registered nurse.

3.The RN has to be consulted when the patient has pain,swelling, redness,phlebitis at the site.
