Hi Dear Friend my apologies for not able to answer second question (bottom one) as it requires experiment details.
First question answer:
Compound X Rf = 1.0 / 3.0 = 0.333
Compound Y Rf = 0.5 / 3.0 = 0.167
smaller Rf value represent that compound is more polar one
Hence Compound Y is more polar than compound X.
Hope this helped you!
Thank You So Much! Please Rate this answer as you wish.("Thumbs Up")
Calculate the Rf value compounds X and Y based on below information (X travels 1.0 cm,...
1. Why do soluble impurities affect the melting point while insoluble impurities are expected not to affect the melting point? (3 points) 2. Why cold solvents are preferred during recrystallization and when is recrystallization selected vs other purification techniques you have learned during 3210 labs. (3 points) 3. The solid compound "X" has two components (A and B). After heating the solid powder (X), one component (A) is left and the other component (B) evaporated directly. Comment on the nature...
1) Calculate the Rf value of a spot that travels 5.7 cm, with a solvent front that travels 13 cm. 2) A student spots an unknown sample on a TLC plate and develops it in pentane solvent. Only one spot, for which the Rf value is 0.05, is observed. Is the unknown material a pure compound? What can be done to verify the purity of the sample using thin-layer chromatography? 3) You try to synthesize n-hexyl bromide as a product...
if applicacable, please write clear stepwise mechanism for all synthetic transformations, showing important internediates where appropriate. only do this if applicable for this lab. Experiment SD Column Chromatography Running the Reaction. Once sodium borohydride has been added to the reaction meture Isee next paragraph take samples at the times just indicated. Because this must be done in such a short time you must be well prepared before starting the reaction. One person should be the timekeeper, and the other person...
