Let's say we find a linear relationship between two variables such as studying and one's grades. Could we claim cause-effect? Why or why not?

No we cannot claim cause - effect

if we find a linear relationship between two variables

such as studying and one's grades.

Regression deals with dependence amongst variables within a model.

But it cannot always imply causation.

It means there is no cause and effect reaction on regression.

In short, we conclude that a statistical relationship does not imply causation.
