Answer: After the esophagogastrostomy patient is generally kept in ICU about 24 to 48 hours as observation is needed because the patient may develop any kind of infection etc. The patient is observed for any kind of blood clotting, reaction to medicines etc.

Also after 3 days of the post operative care includes the food intake which should not be heavy but should be healthy and fluid intake is mainly focused. Because heavy food may interfere with the digestive system problem.
