Honors Physics Question on Magnetism
I'm given a system like so:
Four systems are described below.
System | q1(C) | q2(C) | F(N) |
A | 16 | 3 | 3 |
B | -2 | 4 | 2 |
C | 5 | -5 | 5 |
D | 1 | 2 | 2 |
I'm then asked to rank the systems in order of decreasing separation between the charges, and to indicate ties where appropriate.
I tried using the equation of F = (k*q_1*q_2)/r^2 and solved for r, but my ranking didn't work. I don't know if I am missing something or if I am just putting it in wrong.
