PROCEDURE: Lymph node drainage

ANESTHESIA: Local

After the administration of adequate local anesthesia, the patient was prepped and draped in the usual sterile fashion. The enlarged left cervical lymph node was palpated. An incision was made over the node, and a whitish gray fluid was drained. A sample of the fluid from abscess was sent to the pathology department for culture. Approximately 15 cc of fluid was drained from the abscess. After the drainage, the abscess cavity was not easily palpated. The incision was closed with sutures.

Cervical lymph nodes are found in the neck. Any pathological changes secondary to infectious process or malignancy results in cervical lymph node abscess.
