why is the median less affected by skewed data than the mean?
please keep response simple and as a direct response to the question. thank you.
Ans:
As,the median is the middle value in distribution when the values are arranged in ascending or descending order i.e. median divides the distribution in two equal halves means that 50% of values on either side of the median value),but mean is the average of all data values,so if some of the values in the data set are extremely high or low,it will affect the value of mean, but in case of median, whether the some values are extremely low or high will not affect the median,as median is just the middle value of organized data.

In a negatively skewed distribution The mean is lower than the median and the mode The mean is higher than the median and the mode The mean is between the median and mode in value The mean is equal to the median and lower than the mode A positively skewed distribution is caused by A few extremely high scores A few extremely low scores Too many scores of intermediate value...
For a skewed distribution, is it true that the mean is always larger than the median and that the median is always larger than the mode? Provide justification for your answer.
The data from a simple reaction-time experiment show a sample mean of ¯x = 325 milliseconds and a standard deviation of s = 28. The distribution of the data is unimodal and positively skewed. The median reaction time is (a) The median is same as mode (b) The median is larger than mean (c) The median is same as mean (d) The median is smaller than mean (e) none of these Explain why ?
If you have a distribution that is skewed right is the mean or the median going to have a higher value? Look at the picture of a right skewed data set. ab Save

Match each of the following. The mean is greater than the median. The mean is less than the median. The mean is approximately equal to the median. Match each of the options above to the items below.
