Colony is defined as mass of microorganisms all produces from single mother cell, and these are all visible, and these are visible like a clone.

Biofilm concept:

Biofilm are communities of microorganisms and that adheres together and to living.

* bio films are made up of with different species of bacterias and includes algi and fungi also.

* so the bacterial cells are attached to a surface and multiplies.

* in biofilm mainly first the bacterial attachment to the surface will be taken place.

* next micro colony formation.

* then maturation of those colonies, or biofilm.

* at last detachment will be taken place ,and colonize formation in new places.

* exopolysaccharide matrix of the biofilm important to cell adhesion and aggregation.

* the biofilm bacteria can share the nutrients and sheltered from harmful factors in the environment such as antibiotics and host body immune system.

* the mechanism of antibiotic resistance in bacterial biofilm, the bacteria can grow and adheres well.

So the biofilm concept is apply to bacterial growth.
