1.) Using valence bond theory, describe the bonding in acetylene. Your description must include the type of each of the five bonds and the orbital each atom is using to form each of the bonds.
In acetylene molecule both the carbon atoms are sp hybridised. Each carbon atom has two sp hybrid orbitals. one sp hybrid orbital is used to overlap with sp hybrid orbital of adjacent carbon atom to form one sigma bond between the carbon atoms. Remaining sp hybrid orbital of each carbon overlaps with s-orbital of hydrogen atom to form sigma bond with hydrogen atom.
Each carbon atom has two unhybridized p-orbtials which lie perpendicular to the axis of molecule. They overlap with each other through side ways to form two pi-bonds

Xenonton Part C-Valence Bond Theory: description of bonding in a molecule Using VBT, indicate the type of bond (ot, etc.) and the orbitals used to form the bond. Example: :0-0: Osp Osp and 1. Op./Op. 2 9.10 Bo
(3) How would you describe the bonding in the SF4 molecule in terms of valence bond theory? Include the following in your answer: 4. a. Draw the Lewis structure b. State the hybrid orbitals around the central atom. c. Show the orbitals present in the ground state and the hybridized state, labeling the function of each hybridized orbital.
Using Valence Bond Theory, clearly draw the bonding scheme for N2F2. Draw all the orbital overlaps and lone pair electrons, identify the hybridization of all the atoms, and label the o and bonds. Hints: (i) Draw the Lewis structure first. (ii) The skeleton structure is F-N-N-F.
Using Valence bond theory, write the wavefunction describing bonding in the PCl5 molecule
5. For the molecule of HF: a- Describe the type of orbital overlap according to the Valence Bond Theory. b. Draw the bonding diagram, determine the bond order and magnetic behavior using The Molecular Orbital Theory,
