Solubility rule:

Generally all nitrates (NO3-) are soluble.

(SO4)2- all sulfates are soluble except those of Ba2+, Pb2+,Ca2+and Sr2+.

I- all iodides are soluble except Ag+,Pb+,and Hg22+.

PO42- all phosphates are insoluble except Na+,K+.

SO42- forms ppt with Ba2+ and gives BaSO4, and I- forms ppt with Ag+ to give AgI.

Usually phosphate (PO42-) anion reacts with acid.

Ag2SO3 is hardly soluble in water and soluble in HNO3.

Usually NO3- ions gives brown ring test.

AgI ppt is yellow in color.

3tenents are : i) analytical measurements should be made to satisfy an agreed requirement.ii) making analytical measurements should be both qualified and competent to undertake the task.iii) there should be a regular independent assessment of the technical performance of lab.
