Answer #1

1)

Number of electron in O = 8

Electronic configuration is 1s2 2s2 2p4

Since charge on O is +2

So, we need to remove 2 electrons

Electrons are always removed from highest number orbital

Removing 2 electron from 2p

Final electronic configuration is : 1s2 2s2 2p2

Answer: 1s2 2s2 2p2

2)

Number of electrons in O2+ = 6

Atomic number is 6 for C

So, this is isoelectronic with Carbon

Answer: Carbon
