In Conceptual Question 4.4: The magnitude of the horizontal force acting on arrow 1 is Select ] the magnitude of the horizontal force acting on arrow 3. The magnitude of the horizontal force acting on arrow 2 is I Select ] the magnitude of the vertical force acting on arrow 3.
4. Three arrows are shot horizontally. They have left the bow and are traveling parallel to the ground as shown in Figure Q4.4. Air resistance is negligible. Rank in order, from largest to smallest, the magnitudes of the horizontal forces F1, F2, and F3 acting on the arrows. Some may be equal. State your reasoning. 9 m/s 9 m/s 10 m/s 90 g 80 g 80 g

Answer #1

F= (dp/dt)

so all are released in same interval and attain speed at same time .so dt is same .ALL THESE ARE HORIZONTAL FORCES VERTICAL FORCES ARE ZERO AS THERE IS NO VERTICAL ACCELERATION .

F1= 0.080*((10-0)/dt)=0.80/dt

F2= 0.080*((9-0)/dt)=0.72/dt

F3= 0.090*((9-0)/dt)=0.81/dt

HORIZONTAL force acting on arrow 1 F1 is less than horizontal force acting on arrow F3

HORIZONTAL force acting on arrow 2 F2 is greater than vertical   force acting on arrow 3 F2>0.

Horizontal force F1 points along the positive x-axis; when it is the only force acting on the box, the box accelerates at 6.75 m/s. Force F3 is also horizontal; it has magnitude 2.85F, and acts at an angle 22.6° to the direction of F1. If forces F1 and F3 act on the box at the same time, find the magnitude...
