1. The absorption bands appeared at 2935, 2883 and about 2800 cm-1, due to CH asymmetric and symmatric stretching vibrations of CH3 and CH2 in alkane.

2. The absorption bands appeared at 1459, 1380 cm-1, due to CH asymmetric and symmatric stretching vibrations of CH3 and for 2 methyl groups with same carbon appeared as gave two bands at overlapped with 1380 and 1370 cm-1.

3. The absorption bands appeared at 798 cm-1 due to chloro C-Cl present in the molecule.

Hence it is aliphatic chloro containing compound.

Further may be prepare sodium fusion extract of the compound and to be detect the presence of chlorine.
