He smokes and drinks five martinis every night to relax from the stress of his job and his diet consists of foods that are high in salt and saturated fat because he travels a lot for his job and constantly eating burgers, fried chicken, pizza and pretty much anything that is unhealthy. His blood pressure was >180/115 on three separate days. His last blood panel should total cholesterol level of 298mg/dl, LDL 187mg/dl and HDL levels of 10mg/dL. Further examination showed low plasma renin activity, increased cardiac output and tachycardia. He also experiences swollen feet and ankles.

1- it is important to check the blood pressure on three seperate days to avoid any kind of errors in taking bp and to get the accurate findings of bp.

2- yes , he is experiencing pitting edema because of the low renin plasma activity which results in water and sodium retention in his body.

3- d - atrial natriuretic peptipe

4- it is important to reduce the blood pressure back to the normal to relieve the symptoms which alter his daily life and reduce the risks of getting any cardiovascular and kidney disease.

5- diuretics will work best to relieve the edema.
