1. There is much more lab test to know the nutritional status of a patient, but serum albumin is mostly used.

the normal range of albumin in an adult is 3.5g/dl to 5g/dl

The value decrease in severe nutritional deficiency, liver disease, hypervolemia(CHF, Renal failure), Liver failure, protein-losing states etc.

The value increase in Hypovolemia, transfusion of blood and albumin, severe dehydration.

Serum transferrin, the normal range is 170mg/dl to 370 mg/dl

it mainly uses to know Total iron binding capacity(TIBC)

The value decrease in Vitamin deficiencies(V B12), zinc deficiencies, protein-losing states, renal failure, liver failure.

The value increase in the pregnancy stage, iron deficiency, and in severe dehydration.
