1. neoplasm is a abnormal new growth of cells, usually grow more rapidly than normal cells and will continuously grow if not treated.

tumor: it is simply refers to mass. new growth of abdominal tissue that is often uncontrolled and progressive.

2. neoplasm is classified into 4 types

  • benign neoplasms
  • in situ neoplasms
  • malignant neoplasms
  • neoplasms of uncertain

3. Malignant neoplasm is a condition where the cells grow in an uncontrollable manner and malign or destroy the body tissue. It is invasive and spreads easily in the surrounding body tissue. It also spreads to distant tissues known as metastasis. The general term for malignant neoplasm is cancer.

4.Many cancer deaths are caused when cancer moves from the original tumor and spreads to other tissues and organs. This is called metastatic cancer.

5. Hyperplasia and neoplasia are two cell proliferation processes. Hyperplasia occurs under normal conditions while neoplasia is not. Hence, neoplasia, most of the times is harmful while hyperplasia is not harmful all the time. Neoplasia can leads to a cancer condition when the new growth invades and spreads into other tissues.
