Consider a women who sometimes wears shoes with flat heels and sometimes shoes with narrow high heels. Explain why she leaves dents in the wooden floor when she wears the high heels , but not when she wears the flat heels.

Force exerted by the woman is same in both cases because that is due to her weight which is same in both case .

But pressure in case of narrow high heels is more due to small surface area of high heels which is in contact with the floor. Hence leaving the dent behind.

In case of flat heels surface area is more hence pressure is less.
