A client is a 28-year-old male construction worker referred to treatment having tested positive for heroin on a post-accident drug screen after he crashed the crane he was operating into another truck on the construction site. Client understands that if he fails to follow through with treatment, he will lose his construction job. Client reports that he has been a daily heroin user for about three years, and while he’s tried to quit, he, “just can’t deal with the nasty gut problems” (cramping, vomiting, diarrhea) he experiences when he tries to stop. Additionally, he reports serious financial difficulties and arguing with his girlfriend over money because he has to use so much more heroin than he used to, and his habit has gotten, “pretty expensive.”

In your opinion,

1. Discuss how can you Discharge your client from treatment?, what's the Prognosis, and the Progress.

2. And what's the aftercare Recommendations regarding, Relapse Prevention, Ongoing Support, Continuing Care, Other Support Services

Answer: Patients taking heroin are most likely to suffer from constipation, lung disease such as lung infection, pneumonia etc. Excessive use of heroin leads to the mental retardation. Both the treatment can be given to the patient i.e. pharmacological treatment as well as behavioral treatment, which in combination can integrate wellness in the Patients.

In case of pharmacological treatment the medication can be given such as methadone, buprenorphine etc. These medications when taken orally effects the brain slowly and calm the brain activity. The behavioral therapy includes the counseling as well as speech therapy where patient can speak properly and think logically.
