A client is a 28-year-old male construction worker referred to treatment having tested positive for heroin on a post-accident drug screen after he crashed the crane he was operating into another truck on the construction site. Client understands that if he fails to follow through with treatment, he will lose his construction job. Client reports that he has been a daily heroin user for about three years, and while he’s tried to quit, he, “just can’t deal with the nasty gut problems” (cramping, vomiting, diarrhea) he experiences when he tries to stop. Additionally, he reports serious financial difficulties and arguing with his girlfriend over money because he has to use so much more heroin than he used to, and his habit has gotten, “pretty expensive.”
In your opinion, 1. Discuss briefly how can you Discharge your client from treatment?, what's the Prognosis, and the Progress. 2. And what's the aftercare Recommendations regarding, Relapse Prevention, Ongoing Support, Continuing Care, Other Support Services
In this regard atfirst client should be counselled and informed about harmful effects of drug. Client should be asked to take treatment to leave this habit and the present negative consequences of the drug to be discussed. He should be also informed regarding the availability of treatments of drug abuse and how he will get the help from sources. Positive support to be given to him that he can change his habit and its possible if he can pursue the treatmen.
Prognosis and progress both is good if patient adhere to the ongoing treatment for drug abuse. He can get rid of heroin if he wants to and for this negative feelings to be avoided. Family members should be very supportive in this regard.
