Alcohol passes between the arteries that is the area of brain and skull region and reach capillaries in order to enter all cells of the brain. It can easily pass through the blood-brain barrier due to it's lipophilic composition. The function of blood brain barrier is to protect brain from foreign particles but certain lipophilic molecules can cross this barriers. Some other particles which can cross this barrier are nicotine, marijuana, heroin etc.
