Performance appraisal in healthcare is the regular review of the healthcare providers job performance and overall contribution to the health care organization.

Some management experts have recommended that performance appraisals should be eliminated from the work settings. I am agree with these experts because of the following issues associated with it.These are as follows:-

a) Distrust of the appraisal can lead issues between the subordinates and supervisors .

b)Some healthcare provider experts believe that use of performance appraisal has led to lower use of merit and performance based compensation.

c) It can lead to adoption of unreasonable goals that demoralize healthcare workers or incentivize them to engage in unethical practices.

d)It may lead to unfair evaluations in which employees are judged not by their accomplishments but by their likeability.They can also leads to managers giving underperforming staff a good evaluation to avoid souring their relationship.

But on the other hand , performance appraisals of the employees in hospital helps in monitoring employees' performance, motivate staff and improve hospital morale which will ultimately help in providing better healthcare services to the society.
