Question

About 870 men took part in a study to study the effectiveness of a hormone therapy. Half of the men were selected randomly to come in and receive the hormone therapy while the other half were told to stay home and thus did not receive the therapy. After about a year, blood tests were conducted on each subject by a lab technician who was aware of which group (treatment or those given nothing) the blood samples originated from. In presenting the results of the experiment, the authors reported that the men in the treatment group had experienced a statistically significant increase in HDL (the so-called good cholesterol) and a statistically significant reduction in LDL (the so-called bad cholesterol) when compared with the control group. Select one or more: This study would be classified as double-blind. This study would be classified as single-blind. □ This study would be classified as un-blinded The subjects are the 870 men in the study The subjects are the blood tests. The treatments are the HDL and the LDL. The treatments are the hormone therapy or the absence of it. This is an example of a completely randomized design. This is an example of a block design This is an example of a matched pairs design.
