Answer #1

3.Flow rate gtt/min=Total volume (ml)÷Time (min)×Drop factor (gtt/ml)

First patient

=40÷60×10

=0.66×10

=6.6 or 7 gtt/min

Second patient

=40÷60×15

=0.66×15

=10gtt/min

Third patient

=40÷60×60

=0.66×60

=39.6 or 40 gtt/min

Ans:The IV which is 60 ml/ hour will have the greatest gtt/min and the IV with drop factor 10 ml/he will have the least gtt/min

4.The main reason for the IV to run via microdrip in pediatric patients are because the IV line is narrow and can deliver small amount of fluids in each drops.

5.Flow rate:volume (ml)÷Tine(min)×drop factor (gtt/ml)

volume:50ml

Time:60min

Drop factor:10gtt/ml

=50÷60×10

=0.8×10

=8

Ans:The IV should be set at 8 gtt/min to deliver 50 ml each hour
