(4)Cl2 + (10)KOH + K2S2O3 \rightarrow (5)H2O + (8)KCl + (2)K2SO4

6) Oxidizing and reducing agents from the above-balanced equation:

Oxidizing agents: Cl2, O2, K+

Reducing agents: K, Cl, H2, Sulphate (IV) \rightarrow Sulphate (VI); SO32-\rightarrow SO42-

Only one sulphur atom transferred during the reaction.

7) For the basic solution, the equation is already balanced.

MnO4 + ClO2\rightarrow MnO2 + ClO4

Here, the oxidizing agent is MnO4 and the reducing agent is ClO2

For the acidic solution, the balanced reaction is:
