What unknown alcohol is this?? Help!
Hi Dear Friend, the unknown is 2-methyl-1-propanol
I wanna make sure that you should have a confidence on my answer, hence i am also attaching standard 13C NMR (which is supposed to be used as a cross-confirmation check) and you won't posted that here. And also standard IR spectrum (Liquid film only) is attached below along with HNMR assignments.
IR:
3317 cm-1, strong, broad is due to aliphatic alcohol O-H stretch
2955 cm-1, strong is due to sp3 alkane C-H stretch
1470 cm-1, medium is due to sp3 alkane C-H bending
1037 cm-1, strong is due to alcohol C-O stretch
492 cm-1, medium is due to sp3 alkane C-H out of plane (deformations) vibrations
HNMR & CNMR:
Hope this helped you!
Thank You So Much! Please Rate this answer as you wish.("Thumbs Up")
