Many diet sodas contain warnings that they contain phenylalanine. What is this terrible chemical and why is it so dangerous? Many people refuse to drink diet drinks because of this warning label. Do you agree with these individuals? Explain your position.

Phenylalanine is an amino acid, a "building block" of protein. There are three forms of phenylalanine. It is available in protein rich foods like meat, cheese, eggs, milk. It is dangerous in Pregnant, lactating women, phenylketonuria (genetic disorder) and Schizophrenia.

Many people refuse to drink diet drinks because of this warning label. Do you agree with these individuals? Explain your position.

  I disagree with individuals with people refuse to drink diet drinks. But diet drinks taken in moderation, as it is not harmful in normal individuals. There is a contraindication in phenylketonuria. Caution in others like mental disorders and pregnant women. Drug interactions with monoamine oxidase inhibitors, neuroleptics.
