red blood cells, white blood cells, plasma and platelets.Blood has many different functions that includes transporting oxygen and nutrients to lungs and tissues, forming blood clots and prevention of excessive loss of blood from the body to maintain homeodynamics.

The blood product are referred to as any therapeutic substance that is prepared from human blood. There are in total six blood products derived-
Packed Red Blood Cells- 350 ml
Fresh frozen plasma- 250ml
Platelets concentrate- 20 ml
Cryoprecipitate- 15ml
Albumin- 250ml

Drop factor is the formula used to indicate the rate of drip that is provided to the individual during infusion. The drop factor can be measures by-
total ml / total minutes x drip factpr in gtt/ml

The nursing management for the patient receiving the blood transfusion includes-
Verify the order by doctor, recheck the transfussion details, measure baseline vitals, practice asepsis, check the label of blood transfusion by 2 RN, warm the blood at room temperature before transfusion, identify the client appropriately, start infusion slowly and reach the adviced drip rate, administ VT for 4 hours and observe closely fopr any complications.
