Answer #1

here,

mass , m = 5 kg

the force 1 , F1 = 8 N j

the force 2 , F2 = 6 N i

the acceleration of the mass , a = net force /effective mass

a = ( F1 + F2) /m

a = ( 6 N i + 8 N j) /m

a = ( 6 N i + 8 N j) /5

a = ( 1.2 i + 1.6 j) m/s^2

the magnitude of acceleration , |a| = sqrt(1.2^2 + 1.6^2) = 2 m/s^2

the direction of acceleration , theta = arctan(1.6/1.2) = 53 degree

the acceleration of mass is (c) 2 m/s^2 , north of East
