The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has caused countries around the world to look at increasing the development of feasible alternatives to petroleum energy products. We already know that because oil deposits are being depleted the cost associated with finding and using fossil fuels will only escalate from here.   

Market structures
Is it possible that we will one day run out of oil? If so, is it then possible that we will also run out of other non-renewable resources? Should our government do more to force us to find alternative fuels? Please explain your thoughts.

It is the fact that continous and increased usage of fossil fuels and its depletion seems to be proving extremely costly to the nations around the world be it in terms of environmental degradation or economic losses.Reports that pollution caused by usage of fossil fuels and other sources is proving to be more fatal currently and in the near future as well,resulting in extinction of large number of organisms causing biodiversity losses and resulting in climate change,unbalanced ecology posing threat to human existence.These things when estimated in terms of economic losses,it makes us bound to stop and mull over these issues.

We know that fossil fuels are limited to us as it takes billions of years to replenish depending upon the circumstances,cost of exploring and making it accessible involves huge costs.So if this indiscriminate use continues and there is no judicious,rational,sustainable use,definitely a day will come when we would be left with nothing,a deserted world.All the reserves would be over,no oil,no coal etc. and scenario becoming more dreadful.

We need to think over alternative sources of fuel,using more air,water,sunlight etc for fulfilling our needs,but once again we need to use it cautiously.No doubt Sun would exist until this earth exists but it will have different implications depending upon human activities.It can prove to be a boon and a bane as well.Air is continuously being polluted and there is continous disruption in the water cycle making us cautious.It has negligible chances of non-renewable resources running out but its existing form would be of no use for human existence,rather proving fatal,if do not be cautious.

Its the need of the hour,that governments alongwith people around the world need to stop and think and act accordingly.We need to switch to more public transports,electronic vehicles and more judicious cautioned usage of non-renewable resources.This requires govt.ironed will power and awareness among people etc. The time has come when each and every individual needs to think about our loving mother earth.
