Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in the world affecting women. Breast cancer control is most successful when prevention, early diagnosis,treatment and palliation are integrated.patient families and society experience financial burden and economic impact on breast cancer. Breast cancer intervention are available widely.consumers , clients , resource providers , managers , regulators and other major stakeholders in organisations are responsible to design effective intervention to help people with breast cancer. Biology students are given stakeholders roles as members of a special intrest group.
Stake holders is essential to advancing health care delivery. Some stakeholders supported introduction of more diverse information material including general brochures e.g; on diagnosis, treatment and prognosis.The studies intended to improve breast cancer care from screening through diagnosis to post treatment survival , a stakeholder advisory group formed to implement intervention quickly and efficiently.
Engaging stakeholder in comparative effect research is a process that should require regular meetings that provide ample opportunities of decision making on a range of issues by stakeholder including payers , purchasers of insurance and policy makers as well as Patient and providers .The five principles for engaging stakeholders are ; to get stakeholders “to buy in “ to the process and make sure that they clearly understand their roles, provide neutral and expert facilitation of the stakeholder discussion, establish communication among stakeholders, keep stakeholder engaged in research process.
Interventions to Make breast cancer successful are;
-physicians open discussions and communication of multiple treatment options
-need to communicate the results of multidisciplinary team meetings as treatment and recommendations rather than decisions
-encourage patients to communicate actively and ask more questions
Stakeholders mainly discuss intervention strategies that fit into 3 clusters
1) clinician mediated intervention
2) patient mediated intervention
3) provision of patient Infomation material
Successful national cancer control program require proper planning that involves all stakeholder including situational analysis and assessments , utilising populations based data on breast cancer incidence, consider existing health systems capacity . Effective breast cancer control planning and implementations of effective tools in early diagnosis and treatment can improve health of millions of women in this world .
