Ans: Polar solvents have greater eluting abiligty. Most of the carbonyl compounds, carboxylic acids, amines and amides having polar carbonyl, polar OH groups. These groups can form hydrogen bonding with polar solvents. Therefore these compounds are more soluble in polar solvents. Because of solubility polar solvents have greater eluting ability.
