2.Ans : The condition is acromegaly because the appositional bone growth is developed during adulthood(middle age) .Appositional growth is the increase in diameter (width) of the bones.The condition is due to the growth hormones secreted by anterior pituitary gland which enhances the protein synthesis and division of cells in the nearby tissues. This process stimulates osteoblasts in periosteum and triggers appositional growth of the bones results in increase in  width as well as length.
