Answer #1

Mass of calorimeter and water:

For trial 1: 48.940 g

For trial 2: 49.692 g

Mass of calorimeter:

For trial 1: 9.150 g

For trial 2: 9.150 g

So, mass of water:

for trial 1 : (Mass of calorimeter and water - Mass of calorimeter) = (48.940 - 9.150) = 39.79 g

for trial 2 : (Mass of calorimeter and water - Mass of calorimeter) = (49.692 - 9.150) = 40.542 g

Mass of stoppered test tube and metal:

For trial 1: 34.564 g

For trial 2: 34.564 g

Mass of test tube and stopper:

For trial 1: 25.734 g

For trial 2: 25.734 g

So, mass of metal:

for trial 1 : (Mass of stoppered test tube and metal - Mass of test tube and stopper) = (34.564 - 25.734) = 8.83 g

for trial 2 : (Mass of stoppered test tube and metal - Mass of test tube and stopper) = (34.564 - 25.734) = 8.83 g
