Yes, I believe that mood disorders are more prevalent today than in prior eras. This mainly because of the changing lifestyle and socializing patterns. Yes, I do believe that life and social interaction are more complex today and we are not able to respond properly to all these circumstances. A mood disorder is any condition that impact the mood and related functions of the mood. The most common symptoms of a mood disorder are transitions from extremely low mood to extremely high or manic mood. Some type of mood disorders involve conditions such as dysthymia, depression and bipolar disorder. Poor socializing and excessive use of information technology has made people isolated and excluded from the society. Lack of conversations makes a person have excessive negative thoughts that can in turn impact the mood of a person. Present time is full of stress and stressful events. So it is important for the people to have proper conversation and open interaction. However, cultural difference, excessive use of information technology, inability to make friends, self-centered nature of people have made socializing a very complex process. This has ultimately resulted in greater prevalence of mood disorders. We are certainly responding less appropriately to these circumstances. In order to reduce the prevalence of mood disorders we ought to reduce stress and anxiety from the society. Moreover, we need to concern about the complex socializing patterns in the society. Measures to ease socializing and interactions can contribute to reduction of the mood disorders.
