Do you believe ethics in the workplace are more or less
important today than in the past. Why?
Ethics at the workplace is more important today than the gone days. The reason is competition. Earlier the level of the competition was not high, the market was unsaturated and chances of profitability were high. But now the situation has been changed. Currently, the rivalry in the market is high. There are plenty of alternatives available for the customers and hence the profitability of the companies are at stake. The pressure comes to the employees. They become more responsible to generate revenue for the firm. Because of that, the employees feel pressurized at the workplace. So they may behave unethically to sell the products or services to the consumers which may lead to the short term benefit but long term demerits for the company. They may make false claims, promises etc. In the past days, the ethical conducts were to generate money but nowadays ethics is more belonging to survival. Because of that, I believe that the ethics in the current era is more important than the gone days.
