Answer #1

In this study, there are a total of 100 units or clusters which is the entire population. 10 clusters or units are selected and the cluster mean is found.

M = 3 rhinos per unit of habitat

ycl is the mean of the 10 selected clusters.

п Eσ.)-ΣE ) n i=1 п -ΣΤ (since SRS is used) п n i=1 i-l

The mean of the above selected 10 clusters/units is the unbiased estimator of the population mean.

Hence, population mean = M = 3 rhinos per unit of habitat

Best guess for the number of rhinoes left in the world = Population Mean * Number of units in the entire habitat = 3*100 = 300 rhinos
