Currently, the hospital in which you work has implemented a new clinical practice that will reduce the amount of radiation to a child's brain. The child enters the emergency room with a head injury and a Glasgow Coma Score of 14 or more, and the child is not vomiting. It has been asked that the physician not order a CT scan. To ensure that all physicians are in compliance with the practice, a report will need to be generated for the chief marketing officers at each facility. To generate the report, you are asked to create a data collection plan. Include the following criteria into your plan:

  1. Consider health informatics regulations and standards regarding the collection of personal data. Identify what data elements would be needed to pull the report from the electronic health record.
  2. Discuss theories that could be utilized when collecting data.
  3. Discuss the essential questions that you would ask in order to ensure that you are collecting the correct data. (Do they want the report to be on ongoing? Do they want just a single report?)
  4. Explain how the data collected will improve or influence the situation.
  5. Discuss how to protect the patient's identity when doing reporting.

Data elements are a unit od information that can be collected, used, and stored in clinical information systems like patient name, ethnicity, gender, diagnosis, lab test, primary care providers, medication and date of each encounter. It is a group of datasets measure outcomes, evaluate the quality of care and ensure patient safety events.
Data collection should be related to theory. It is a reliability and unit od analysis like team and organization. Grounded theory is a research methodology that can be used in any data, it involves open-ended question for focus group and participants observation and study of the artifact. it represents the integration of qualitative and quantitative perspectives of the action process. It involves the collection and analysis of data.
Accurate data collection is important for research. appropriate data collection reduces errors. Data collection questions should be accurate ad open-ended questions, it helps to provide more information from responders with their feeling, attitude, and understandings. Methodological work is an ongoing process to address the issues. it will be an ongoing process.
Valid data collection improves the situation and identifies the issues in collectin data. follow policy, practice, a procedure in data collection and follow the organization culture and right strategies for training staff, quality data workflow design, decision support, and customization and responsiveness improve the process of data collection.
