Purpose

To provide students with the opportunity to conduct a comprehensive nursing admission assessment, including history.

Overview

Mary Cohen is a 50-year-old white female with a history of gallstones and episodic abdominal pain. She presented to the emergency department this afternoon after experiencing right upper quadrant abdominal pain approximately 1 hour after eating a fatty meal. She was diagnosed with cholecystitis and admitted for probable cholecystectomy. The scenario takes place on Monday at 1530, just after Mary was admitted to the inpatient unit from the emergency department. During this scenario, students will have the opportunity to conduct a comprehensive nursing admission assessment and history and to document and communicate the findings.

1.patient may show irritation or make moaning sound if abdominal tenderness present and feel pain while palpating.

2.while palpating ticklish patient do it slowly and gently.inorderto convert their mind you can talk with them while doing palpatien so they can get concentration on talking than palpation.otherwise ,tell them to keep their hands upon your hand so tha they feel comfortable as patient is invovlved in the procedure.

4. In cholycystittis pain orginates from right upper quardent of abdomen and radiate to the scapula.with this sign we can identify the condition.abdomen and scapula are two main area where patient can feel pain.
