all the leftover debris is what we call as asteroids, meteorites and comets. After the last planet formed, these leftover debris were still under the effect of gravity so they started orbiting the sun as per Kepler's law. This is the reason we have a great and dense asteroid belt and Kuiper belt ... Similar to planets, asteroid belt has mostly terrestrial rocks and Kuiper belt has icy rocks.
