Most people experiencing homelessness are individuals (67 percent). The remainder (33 percent) are people in families with children.

- 67,495 are veterans. It amazes me that in today's society, over 1 in 10 homeless people in America are veterans. There are a variety of reasons for such a large percentage of homeless being veterans. Studies show that the veteran population is 2x more likely to become chronically homeless than other American groups.

- 20 to 40 percent of people who are homeless have a serious mental disorder.

- As of 2015, there were about 565,000 homeless people living in the United States on any given night. It's estimated that women comprise a little under 40% of that population.
