Answer #1

Solution

Part (a)

With 15% weight for Homework and Worksheets and 20% weight for quiz, a 100% score on these would mean a weighted aggregate of {(100 x 0.15) + (100 x 0.2)} = 35.

Minimum weighted average required to get a pass = 70.

The above two => the minimum combined average score of test and final exam

= 70 – 35

= 35 Answer

Part (b)

With 15% weight for Homework and Worksheets and 20% weight for quiz, a 75% score on these would mean a weighted aggregate of {(75 x 0.15) + (75 x 0.2)} = 26.25.

Minimum weighted average required to get a pass = 70.

The above two => the minimum combined average score of test and final exam

= 70 – 26.25

= 43.75 Answer

Part (c)

With combined average score of 50% in test plus final exam, even assuming 100% combined average score in other two components, which have a combined weight of 35%, the best score possible is;

50 + (100 x 0.35)

= 85% i.e., grade B Answer
