  1. Discuss the factors that make the adolescents vulnerable to malnutrition.
  2. Discuss the major factors and effects of poor nutrition among the pregnant women                         
  3. A mother comes to you with her 14-year-old who is underweight explain the steps you will take to assist this mother to address her problem of malnutrition.

Answer: There are various factors which make the adolescent vulnerable to malnutrition such as:

  • Low birth weight
  • Diarrhea
  • Poverty
  • Chronic disease.

The major factors and effects of poor nutrition among pregnant women are poverty, illiteracy, unawareness etc. are the major factors which causes poor nutrition among pregnant women. This poor nutrition during pregnancy causes increases risk in child birth such as low weight of newborns, unhealthy, improper growth and development etc.

In a growing age, children requires major nutrition. It is important to provide healthy foods such as green vegetables, fruits to overcome the underweight of the children. It is also important to provide protein such as fish, diary products, lean meat etc. This will maintain healthy weight and will provide sufficient nutrients to the children.
