1.Professions,whatever field it may be,have their own associations and organisations.It helps people from same profession to unite under one umbrella.The associations can conduct meetings,arrange inservice educational classes for improving knowledge and skills also update knowledge of persons with current topics and issues. They can also help to maintain the quality of the profession and notify their problems and issues to the government and community.

Professional Organisations helps to broaden their members knowledge and acts as a helping hand whenever needed. Through these organisations members can discuss about research papers and seek help from experts when needed. Professions code of ethics provides a framework for its members for ethical analysis and decision making.

2. Major professional nursing organisations , for example ANA,NLN, focus in improving the nursing carer. The main goals of these organisations are

  • they are commited to its members
  • constantly work for the improving the quality of nursing
  • encourages talented nursing educators for contributing their work.

Speciality Nursing organisations- They mainly focus on the needs of the speciality nurses. For example Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses(AMSN) is the nursing organisation for medical -surgical nurses. Speciality nurses can contact the members through this association and clear their doubts and seek assistance when needed.

Grass root level organisations- These organisations are avaiable in every workplace and the members can contact easily with the members and ask doubts . They are available within the organisations and compared with the other two organisations the membership is easy to obtain and fees is affordable.

3.The nursing professional organisations offer a wide range of oppurtunities to its members.It empowers the nurses to stay up to date with the current knowledge and practices.It also provides informations,resources and opportunities for its members. The organisations provide credit hours for the members when attending continuing nursing education program.

4.Organized nursing body is now involved in political activities and is becoming politically active. Through their political work they are making new policies for improving the quality of nursing. policies also helps in resource allocation to support health care. Also nurses can reach high level and improve the standards and quality of nursing care. This will benefit both the nurses and clients.

5. It is very important for nurses to understand and become involved in political process as nurses are constantly interacting with the clients. Only by knowing the political process the nurse can stand for the justice of clients and advocate the clients.Nurses can stand for their rights,improving the standards,for upgrading the profession, involve in community activities only by involving in political activities.
