Answer #1

4. Odds of drawing

a. a face card= ?

In a standard deck of cards there are three face cards (a face card is a jack, a queen, and a king) for each of the four suits, so 12 cards

P(a face card) = 12/52

So, odds (A face card) = (12/52) ( 1- 12/52) = 12/40 = 3/10 = .30

b.

Odds(2 face cards)

= (12C2/52C2)/ (1-12C2/52C2)

= 0.0524
