Answer #1

SOLUTION:

For a Binary solution(a solution containing two components),

% of Mass =(Mass of solute /Mass of solvent) *100

Here ,

NH4Cl is solute & water is solvent .

Simply 4% by mass means the solution contains 4% NH4Cl of its total mass .Rest will be the mass of water.

Now ,

Given mass of solution =1.75 kg

Then , Mass of NH4Cl = 4% of 1.75 kg

= (1.75*4)/100

=0.07 kg

Now ,Mass of water required =1.75 _ 0.07

=1.68 kg

So, Mass of NH4Cl required =0.07 kg

Mass of water required =1.68 kg
