  • 1.It is important for Ethel Jones to be mobile as much as possible to restore her functional mobiltiy and muscle function of the lower limb..
  • Immobility may cause loss of motion and strength of lower limb, poor postural balance, hip pain and decreased functional mobility .It also gives a negative body image to the patient.
  • Immobility have various effects on body functions like reduced   muscle mass, strength ,oxidative capacity.Stiff and sore muscles elevates the hip pain.It also hampers the persons ability to make movement progressively and thus the person cannot maintain an upright posture too along with loss of voluntary control.Cardiovascular output and respiratory depths/capacity decreases.Immobility also leads to degradation of integumentary system evidenced by the occurence of bed sore.Loss of appetite resulting to dehydration, malnutrition, and weight loss is effect of immobilisation.Immobility leads to collection of urine due to poor drainage leading to Urinary Tract Infection.Lastly but not the least ,immobility leads to various psychological problems such as depression and low self esteem.
  • Mrs Jones should be made to realize that mobility is important for her to gain pre fractional recovery .By daily walking ,even if for a shorter distance with help will enhance her body functions and movement. Also here, her fear of falling down can be diminished by building a trust level with the aides so that she can try to walk with the walker without any fear with the aide assisting her or following her closely from behind.
