The timeline with regard to departmental cost system is one of the efficient and timely tools used in entities to be able to have information regarding the closing work in progress, materials introduced in the production process, the output of the process all at one place at a glance.
The following would be the timeline for the Mixing department of Tasty Chicken.
Tasty Chicken Mixing Department Timeline
Conversion costs incurred evenly throughout the mixing process |
Start | 70% | Complete | 100% | Complete |
Direct Materials Added 14700 units | Transferred to the Retort Department |
13100 units completed and transferred out to the next process, Retort Department |
1600 units are started but not yet finished(Closing WIP) |
Here units=gallons
This is just one of the steps of processing and the early steps of it , this is followed by computation of Output in equivalent units,Costs per equivalent unit, followed by assigning costs to completed units alongside the closing Work in Process.
